Studio 2 is the result of a life-long belief in the power of art. It is a tiny loft located upstairs at an intersection in the heart of small-town America. You can drive by and see works in progress standing in the windows . . . partly because my students and I are proud of them and think they beautify our street and partly because, if we walk across this street and stand in front of the barbershop, we can see what we might still need to do to them in the way of contrast or proportion.

You can walk in the door most weeknights and find people painting, conversing, laughing, consoling, advising, encouraging, engaging and, in some cases, escaping everyday life.

Studio 2 is largely a place without pretensions because the philosophy here is that art is part of life and the ability to create makes other aspects of life more complete. We realize that while art is a gift, it was not given exclusively to any one of us, and we all become better artists and people by sharing this gift with one another. Some may show sparks of genius which light our way, but others provide the gentle rivers of life's experiences and insight that nourish us in quieter ways. Because of our willingness to support, encourage and learn from one another, Studio 2 becomes a place where competition somehow loses its importance. Sometimes we feel more pride in the accomplishments of each other than in our own.

Studio 2 is dedicated to the concept that everyone truly is an artist and to helping as many people as possible find their way back to this truth!
